XR Tech Summit Qatar: How XR Technology Can Power Nationalisation
22 November 2021Arishi Managing Director, Andrew Elia, has addressed a digital XR Tech Summit in Qatar on ‘How XR Technology Can Power Nationalisation’. Nationalisation is the approach adopted by many countries in the Middle East region to upskill nationals to be able to run all functions within the private and public sector.
Explaining how VR and AR can support this process, Andrew explained how VR in particular enables kinaesthetic learning, the process by which a learner engages physically with a subject, an approach which has been demonstrated to improve topic recall (Coffield F, Moseley, D, Hall, E, Ecclestone, K: 2004).
VR has the ability to inject excitement into a structured tuition programme, create an ice breaker in longer learning sessions and allows exploratory learning at the delegate’s own pace. VR learning experiences can also include quizzes to test learning at key stages and these can be integrated into the VR experience.
Andrew demonstrated ideas for VR as a pathway to professional development – although of course, there are many more – giving examples of tuition for urban and traffic planning, energy management and sustainability impact measurement. He discussed how VR can facilitate learning in Banking and Finance, where challenging technology or theoretical concepts such as distributed ledgers or risk management can be more easily demonstrated than explained.
The discussion and ensuing question and answer session was engaging and Arishi would like to thank the organisers, The Rendezvous Experts, for hosting such an interesting first day of the conference.
